Introduction

Nursing is an art as well as a profession of scientific care. It is a unique profession with a primary focus on autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups, and communities, whether sick or well, in all settings. It includes the promotion of health, the prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled, and dying people. Nursing continues to be an indispensable service in the healthcare sector. Nursing practice is continuously dynamic as it grows through healthcare delivery, research, education, quality improvement, and advocacy.

The College of Nursing, Government Medical College, Budaun, U.P., was established in the year 2022 with the goal of becoming a benchmark in the field of nursing education and research in India. The college is affiliated with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU), Lucknow, U.P. The inaugural batch of B.Sc. Nursing commenced in November 2022 with an intake capacity of 60 students.

Vision:

To become one of the nation’s top nursing institutions that develops leaders in nursing and healthcare whose actions, discoveries, and voices strengthen and advance the health of individuals and communities worldwide.

Mission:

To promote and advance health and well-being through excellence in nursing, interdisciplinary teaching, nursing research, practice, and service while fostering diversity and inclusion.

Aims & Objective:

  • To train and educate nursing students so that they can contribute to all branches of nursing for the promotion of health, prevention of diseases, maintenance of health, and care during illness.

    Ensure teaching excellence to prepare nurses and leaders, locally and globally, who provide evidence-based, patient-centered care.
    Engage in interprofessional relationships, collaborative research, and clinical partnerships to optimize student learning.
    Promote a culture of scholarship and contribution to the discipline to enhance the profession and body of knowledge in nursing.
    Create an environment supporting the university’s mission and vision.

B.Sc. Nursing

AIMS:

The aim of the undergraduate nursing program is to:

Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services.
Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations; protect the rights of and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health; function effectively in hospital and community nursing services; and conduct research studies in nursing practice.
Enable graduates to assume roles as teachers, supervisors, and managers in clinical and public health settings.

Objectives

Apply knowledge from physical, biological, and behavioral sciences, medicine, and nursing to provide care to individuals, families, and communities.
Demonstrate an understanding of lifestyles and other factors that affect the health of individuals and groups.
Provide nursing care based on the steps of the nursing process in collaboration with individuals and groups.
Demonstrate critical thinking skills in making decisions in all situations to provide quality care.
Utilize the latest trends and technology in healthcare delivery.
Provide promotive, preventive, and restorative health services in line with national health policies and Programmes.
Practice within the framework of the code of ethics, professional conduct, and legal boundaries.
Communicate effectively with individuals, groups, and healthcare team members to build positive interpersonal relationships.
Demonstrate teaching skills for individuals and groups in clinical and community health settings.
Participate effectively as a member of the healthcare delivery team.
Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical and community health settings.
Conduct need-based research studies and utilize findings to improve the quality of care.

Evaluation Process

1. Evaluation methods-

During orientation the students are given a clear idea about the syllabus and evaluation procedure.
Before beginning the academic calendar, coordinators plan and prepare the schedule of examinations for the entire semester (three internal exams conducted each semester).
Final exams are conducted at the university level.
