Admission Rules for MBBS in India Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission to the MBBS course in India must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
Minimum Marks Required in PCB:
General Category: Minimum 50% aggregate marks.
SC / ST / OBC / PwD Candidates: Relaxation provided as per Government of India norms (40% for SC/ST/OBC and 45% for PwD-General).
NEET Qualification
Admission to all MBBS seats across India is strictly based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG).
Candidates must qualify for NEET-UG by securing the minimum qualifying percentile prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for that academic year.
Age Requirement
Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
Currently, there is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET-UG, subject to prevailing regulations.
Counselling Process
After NEET-UG results are declared, qualified candidates must register and participate in the official counselling process:
All India Quota (15% Seats): Conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), DGHS, Govt. of India.
State Quota (85% Seats): Conducted by the respective State Counselling Authority (DGME, Uttar Pradesh for GMC Budaun).
Seat allotment is finalized based on NEET rank, candidate preferences, category, reservation rules, and seat availability.
Reservation Policy
Seat allotment adheres to the prevailing reservation policies of the Government of India and the respective State Government for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD categories.
Document Verification
Candidates must submit original documents along with self-attested copies during counselling and reporting:
- NEET-UG Admit Card & Scorecard
- Class 10th Mark Sheet & Certificate (Date of Birth proof)
- Class 12th Mark Sheet & Passing Certificate
- Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card / Voter ID / Passport)
- Category / Caste Certificate & Domicile Certificate (if applicable)
- Passport-size Photographs
- Provisional Seat Allotment Letter
Final Admission
Admission is confirmed only after:
- Successful seat allotment.
- Complete document verification.
- Payment of prescribed tuition and college fees.
- Physical reporting and completion of medical fitness formalities within the stipulated timeline.
